[00:00:01.620] Speaker 1: Hi, this is part four of the miniseries, "The Gift of Everything." This one is much more strategic and tactical. It is everything I know about getting to a point of transcendence, to the milestone that I've mentioned in previous episodes, which is you have the fundamental realization that you are actually your entire reality. And we are... So full disclosure, everything I'm suggesting that one could try

[00:00:37.280] Speaker 1: is based on a sample size of one. Right? So I mean, I did it. [chuckles] So, uh, it would be great to have a larger sample size, but this is what we got, you know. Uh, so to getting to that level of insight and realization in a direct way, and all the experiences that seem to come after it, I'm going to relay everything I know about what worked, what didn't work, how it felt, [chuckles] what you should consider trying, what was the most important. So it's gonna be a lot of, uh, random one-off tips, but I'm also gonna be presenting my theories on how it works and

[00:01:12.800] Speaker 1: what definitely doesn't work, um, what slowed me down, that sort of thing. Again, none of this is direct advice. Some of it could be wrong. If it feels wrong for you, don't do it. In general, um, this whole series comes with this disclosure, but this one definitely does. If you are not in a stable place in your life, you are not mentally or emotionally well, if you, uh, pardon my French, can't handle your shit, then you should not yet embark on [chuckles] this journey.

[00:01:47.640] Speaker 1: Uh, you should get to a place of stability in your life, where if something bad were to happen to you tomorrow, if you got really bad news, um, you would still be able to function. You could still go to work, you could still take care of yourself and your children. You could handle something traumatic happening to you, and that's not an easy thing to say to somebody. But when you're looking... [chuckles] Uh, as they say, if you peer into the void, uh, the void will peer back. So this is not for the faint of heart. Uh, but if you want answers to big questions, and

[00:02:22.580] Speaker 1: you wanna see beyond the material, uh, in a very literal way, then [chuckles] this is what it takes. Um, so [laughs] I'm gonna bother editing. [laughs] Ah. I said I would do a mindsight demonstration. Not that anyone was ever testing me. It's probably common knowledge at this point. Here's some cards. They're random. Take my word for it or don't. [laughs] That part doesn't matter for

[00:02:57.600] Speaker 1: me. Uh, but just as evidence, if you should choose to believe it, here's some random cards. They look like this. My eyes are now closed. This can be done with blindfolds. I feel like you just need to see that I'm not full of BS, so we're gonna pause real quick [laughs] and say that weird stuff's gonna happen to you, um, as you, as you do this. So I can already see. You can't tell that I can see, but I can. Uh, I can see as if I'm roughly looking through my eyes, even though they are closed. You're gonna be able to do and experience

[00:03:32.320] Speaker 1: things that are going to shock you and open, pry open your... what you thought was possible in a direct way that is definitely happening to you and you did not expect. Now, almost all of it will be good, but not all of it, and you're gonna have to learn to deal with these things. There are principles along the way that can help, uh, keep you safe and secure, but in general, don't forget it's your reality. Uh, but if you are not ready for what's happening, do not embark on this trip, because you're going to get what you ask

[00:04:07.240] Speaker 1: for. Be careful what you ask for. You're going to get what you ask for. All right, so this is a shape. I don't know what shape it is yet, 'cause I can't see it yet. Oh, it's a plus sign. I don't know which one this is yet, 'cause I can't see the other side. Oh, it's also a plus sign. [laughs] What, are they all plus signs? No, that's a circle. So these are random. That's a star. Those are some X's. I forgot that was in the deck. Whatever that is. Wavy lines, they're red. That's a red plus sign. I didn't

[00:04:42.180] Speaker 1: show you. I think that's, yep, wavy lines. They look blue. And a green plus sign. So once you can do stuff like that, you're like, "Okay, cool. I guess the people I'm talking to in my dreams, the interesting experiences that I'm having, uh, in meditation or otherwise are real." So the full disclosure before we begin is, if you don't want things you didn't really think were possible to happen to you, do not follow these instructions until you are ready to. So if you don't

[00:05:17.280] Speaker 1: feel ready, you can't handle it, [laughs] don't do it. That doesn't mean that it will go wrong, uh, but, you know, you gotta be able to handle massive change, right? Uh, seeing a UFO sounds fun until you're right there and it's in front of you and you're like, "Hmm, this is real. I don't know what that is." And then depending on how you feel, depending on your worldview, your religious views, your personal beliefs, it could be very unsettling. Uh,

[00:05:52.080] Speaker 1: so just keep that in mind. You have to be able to process your trauma, because it's going to happen. And so we're gonna talk about this whole process of what it takes. Um, what do you do when you're scared or when something bad is happening? How do you make sense of things? How do you advance? Is there a progression system? Yes, I'm gonna answer the rhetorical question. It is. There is. [chuckles] How does it seem to work? What are the principles? How do you get to that point? What works? And so I'll just walk through the whole process. So I guess start to finish, I don't, you know, where does

[00:06:26.940] Speaker 1: something start and something finish? It's my whole life, so... But I didn't embark on this quest seriously un-until I'd had that first UFO experience, as I mentioned in earlier episodes, because it sort of shook my worldview. I needed to know. So there's a few fundamental principles that are absolutely required for you to move along some path of transcendence or enlightenment or whatever you're in this for, uh, increased awareness, the ability to communicate with the other side, to know who you are, answer big questions, uh, to understand

[00:07:02.400] Speaker 1: deep truths about the world in a first-hand, direct way. If you're after all that stuff, you wanna know what it's all about, and you don't wanna ask anyone else's permission, you just wanna find out. This is compatible with any reasonable, uh, religion. It's compatible with any spiritual views. It's just a set of steps to do. It is up to you, and always up to you, to decide what it all means. Uh, I will not tell you what it means. I will tell you my beliefs and how I came to them, but ultimately, it is your responsibility to decide what all this means and how it works and what the,

[00:07:37.760] Speaker 1: what matters. Never give that up, uh, for anybody. Yeah, that's your responsibility. You have another responsibility, in my opinion, which is to be authentic to yourself. What you want is what you want. If it feels true or it feels right and isn't just a poorly chosen value or an insecurity, but like, "No, this is who I am. I'm not doing that. I don't like this. I don't feel like I need to," then don't. [chuckles] No one's, no one can make you. Refer to earlier lessons. Don't forget. It's your reality. Don't let anyone push you around. I mean, don't be

[00:08:12.800] Speaker 1: a jerk. [chuckles] Be careful. But in general, uh, it's not bad, but don't forget you have control. All right. So what's the actual process? So over these few years, what is this, three, four years? I started meditating. I did all kinds of different meditations. Meditation is great because it stills your mind, and it trains the skill of discernment. That is the ability to notice the difference between things in your awareness. That seems like a silly skill, but it is a master skill, especially when you need to start determining, okay,

[00:08:47.780] Speaker 1: what is real? How do I know what is real? What does it mean for something to be real? How do I know whether that was my thought? How do I know whether I just thought I saw something or I imagined it? It is a way of noticing differences between things and noticing in finer, finer detail. Cool. Uh, so that's helpful, but it also teaches you how to still your mind, how to be okay in almost any situation. So I recommend the book "The Untethered Soul." Just start with that book. Uh, it's... Or the audiobook version. Absolutely incredible. It will teach you

[00:09:23.000] Speaker 1: everything you need to know about how to be okay and how to be content and how to train your body, most of your mind, and your, I guess, emotions, in a sense, to be able to control your own mind and your own mental state. You're gonna need that. It also allows you to still your mind, um, and to be okay in confusing situations. You're gonna need that. Uh, so in general, some level of grit is necessary. The ability to handle change is going to be critical. You have to be somewhat open-minded. You have to be

[00:09:57.980] Speaker 1: able to entertain stupid ideas long enough to find out if they are true. Um, you're allowed to have problems. That's totally fine. But the basic premise here, and my model for how this works, at least getting to the point where I've gotten to, I'm not qualified to say anything beyond that 'cause that's where I'm at, is that Maslow's hierarchy, so your basic needs moving up to self-actualization, isn't just a pyramid that ends at the top. Turns out self-actualization keeps going. It's just that the farther you go, the more self there is to actualize. Your sense of self grows.

[00:10:33.020] Speaker 1: Your whole behavior and worldview changes. It doesn't stop. Uh, so there is more beyond self-actualization. Uh, it just stops being about only you and becomes more about connectivity to things that you did not necessarily know that existed or even more sensitivity within yourself. So here is the rough premise for the things that I think are the most important. These are basic practices that you can begin doing. The first is meditation, and that is prob- Okay, the very first is seeking. That is you just, you wanna know.

[00:11:08.680] Speaker 1: You set an intention. You want to know answers to big questions like, "Who am I? Who am I really? How does this place actually work? Where did I come from?" Whatever your big questions are. You wanna know your deity of choice. You know, "Why did you make me? Why are things like this?" Whatever. Yeah, I, I wanna know how it all works. I want the big answers. I wanna connect beyond myself. Whatever your motivating factor is, you have to want it, and you gotta want it in a way that you will not be easily dissuaded. I mean discouraged, not like intimidated, but more like you need to be able to

[00:11:43.560] Speaker 1: get no results for weeks on end or months, or a few results and be frustrated and still want it. You have to have a pursuit of what I guess most people would call spiritual development. You wanna know. You wanna feel content. You want to understand it all. And if, so if you lose that or it wanes, it is a necessary precondition. If you don't want it, you're not gonna get it. Um, so don't ever lose track of that 'cause that is a necessary precondition and probably the most important, is that you actually want it, and you can sustain that desire, and it's important to you. The

[00:12:17.992] Speaker 1: second is meditation. So this is more of a doing practice. Uh, all kinds of meditation are useful in different ways, but you are after inner exploration. If I could offer some suggestions, um, don't worry about it. [chuckles] It's the-- Don't-- I didn't get hung up on dogma. I didn't study under anybody. I didn't look up a bunch of stuff. I read the Yoga Sutras at some point, and I'm like, "Oh, this is pretty great. What else do I need to know?" So go read that. There's some excellent, uh, translations with commentary. Uh, perfect. Go do that. But the gist is

[00:12:53.352] Speaker 1: you have in meditation strategy, so that is you have a specific target. What are you putting your attention on? All a meditation is, is a deliberate time to practice putting your attention on something. You're moving around your conscious awareness, right? So you're kinda just doing reps with a barbell, right? That's what this is. This is a general thing, and you're gonna need that because it, it's used throughout everything. Um, so you're g- you need to do it every day. I recommend at least 30 minutes. Uh, it sounds like a long session, and the more intently you do it, the s- the

[00:13:28.252] Speaker 1: more seriousness you do it with an intention. Generally speaking, if you're just starting out or you've been doing meditation just to feel better, your goal is to think of nothing, do nothing, and don't worry about thoughts or emotions or anything that comes up. Just, like, let them slide off of you, and just try to have a wide open, you know, mildly happy, like, a gaze of attention. You don't really need to focus on anything at all. That's kinda the goal is to let it continually slip off everything until, as you go through the protocol, you begin to, if you can keep going, you'll eventually get to ego dissolution, and your whole sense

[00:14:03.252] Speaker 1: of self dissolves. That takes a long time, uh, to get to that level of practice for most people. Again, if you have a history of all sorts of [chuckles] mental disorders and you're not in a stable place, don't do this stuff. Like, it's, you have a pretty messed up Jenga tower, like [chuckles] don't, don't go shaking it. Uh, you need to get yourself to a healthy place if you can first. That's a great kind of meditation. Any kind of non-dual meditation is excellent. Uh, I really liked, um, Sam Harris' Waking Up app, uh, and the courses there are also good.

[00:14:38.772] Speaker 1: I recommend those as well. They're very tactical, um, uh, because you can go through them. And they'll teach you, oh, where do my thoughts come from? Oh, wow, I did not make these thoughts happen. I don't know where thoughts come from. How do I know this is my hand? Where is the, how, where is the line between myself and the world? All these sorts of things are great one-on-one practices. But in general, the kind of meditation that I do is sort of contemplative. It's like I pick a target focus. Usually, it is nothing. It is the goal to, like, unwind the self. You just relax and release, and you try to clear your mind. You're trying to

[00:15:13.672] Speaker 1: let go. You just let go over and over again. Let go until you're just a sort of warm, heavy soup with your attention's not really on anything. The thoughts stop coming. It's pretty still. It takes a while to get there, a lot of practice, and sometimes a lot of time per session. You wanna get to that point. The premise is, is that you are, especially if you set the intention because you're seeking, I want these things, I want these things, you are connecting to some higher self. You're connecting and presumably to your own soul, to... You're reducing the noise level. The premise is that you're reducing the noise level, and you're

[00:15:48.392] Speaker 1: forming some connection, spiritually speaking. I don't know how it works. Don't ask me. [chuckles] But I know it does. Uh, to, to your deity of choice, the other side, however you wanna frame it, it doesn't matter. You're forming a connection because it's quiet, and it's still, and you've set that intention. So now there's, like, a channel opening up. You can think of this as running a channel between you and whatever you're trying to connect to, some great beyond or a sense of inner knowledge or intuition. That's what you're doing. So these are your basic reps. You wanna do that. Now, some other basic practices that you're

[00:16:23.232] Speaker 1: going to do are beginning from there during the day, you wanna pay attention to your own state. Uh, we're gonna get into a whole bunch of practices from there, but if you just do anything, do those two things. Just meditate seriously every day and want to know. And the third is using your own intuition. This is probably the only other, like, basic ingredient. Trusting yourself, follow your heart, that answer, basically. You are trusting your own internal machinery to guide you to the destination. That's the premise. Your own soul already wants to be free, right? That's the

[00:16:58.032] Speaker 1: idea. And because it wants to be free, or it wants to know its creator or its own existence, it will naturally grow in that direction with just a little encouragement. It already knows what to do. You don't have to consciously know. And so all you really have to do is pay attention in your everyday life, just while you're walking around outside of meditation, and you're looking for a feeling. You're learning to trust your own intuition. I have a feeling that talking to this person is important. I have a feeling that leaving this relationship's important. I have a feeling that I shouldn't really call that guy who seemed like a cool friend. You're gonna learn how

[00:17:33.032] Speaker 1: to start trusting that and following it. I highly recommend once you have the confidence to do this, give yourself a test. For two weeks, I, instead of planning my life, instead of having it all planned out and figured out, left brain, this, then this, then that, I am going to try at every step to trust my own intuition, not logical, not thinking, not planning. I have a sense. I have a feeling I should just do this. I should try that and learn to take that seriously because that is essentially your compass, hence the name of the blog, Different Compass, that I write. That is the compass you're learning to trust. It's your own

[00:18:08.052] Speaker 1: internal compass, which is pointing you to where you need to go. Or somebody else is helping you point it to where it needs to go. Uh, make no claims on that. So learn to trust your own internal judgments, largely your own intuition. Cool. Do those three things, and you'll get there eventually. [laughs] You don't have to listen to anything else I say. You already know how to do it. You just need to make the time and space, and you have to have the intention. You have to want it. If you do those things, you'll eventually get there. So what follows from here is, like, here is, like, things that definitely don't work. Here are the things that will speed it up if you're

[00:18:43.124] Speaker 1: obsessive and [chuckles] you wanna go faster. Uh, here is my understanding of the general process and the sort of stages that you might go through. It's based, again, just based on sample size of one. Um, and you can follow it, uh, if it feels right. Use your own intuition to know whether any of these one thing-- many of these things are useful. So again, the goal is to get to a point where you have the direct realization that you are your reality, and you can feel that the stuff around you is you. And so there's a lot of sta-steps in between there, and they're all very

[00:19:17.864] Speaker 1: motivating and exciting, and honestly, they're probably gonna be unique to you. I do think there are general patterns, so I am portraying this as if this is how it worked for everyone. I don't know that. I think that it is a general... Most of these things will probably be true for you, but your thing is gonna look like your thing. I have a s-strong suspicion that your own sort of personal journey here towards some transcendence is going to look unique and personal. This is all incredibly personal. It is remarkably personal. Uh, so I think it will be beautiful and

[00:19:52.624] Speaker 1: wonderful and exciting and sometimes weird in exactly the ways you need, in an uncanny way. And the more you play along, and the more you take it seriously, the more the universe itself seems to play along and take your attempt seriously back. You can think of this all as like a challenge or a series of tests and a series of lessons. I recommend holding on to these, like, general ideas. If you can hold-- If you can adopt these beliefs, it will help you. Everything means something. There are no small moments and small things. Begin to see meaning in every single thing that happens,

[00:20:27.644] Speaker 1: small or large. Why did that happen? Begin asking those questions. Why did that happen? How is that for me? What is that teaching me? What is the lesson in this? And the more you can apply that, and the more you can expect to see magic in the world, right? Whatever magic means to you. Many people would call... I'm mostly talking about synchronicity, which are meaningful coincidences. That is, "Wow, what are the chances that this thing happened?" You know? "Oh, you were just talking about this thing, and wow, look, it just happened." When you see those moments, encourage them and decide what they mean to you. Is this magical? Was that for me?

[00:21:02.724] Speaker 1: Does-- Is that saying something about my life in a small or big way, uh, that is relevant to me right now or will be soon? Is it just fun? And when you see them, notice them, acknowledge them. Feel free to say thank you, and take it seriously. And you decide what it means to you. You can't be wrong. So when you notice those moments of magic in the world, and you expect to see it everywhere you go, everything means something. You're training your own mind to look for it. But also, I think that there is definitely a reciprocating effect and that the

[00:21:37.624] Speaker 1: world around you, your reality, begins to play back with you like a game of tennis back and forth. You're playing now. And, um, it's fun. [chuckles] And it's also helping you figure out what to do and what's important, and it really gives you confidence that it's working. All right, so what are the rough stages of spiritual development towards transcendence as I understand it from where I, where I am? What does it feel like? What are the effects? How do you know roughly where you might be on it? Everyone's gonna be different, and it's not like it's one thing. It's not a single scale.

[00:22:12.684] Speaker 1: I'm reducing it to one scale here, but it's not that. It's like a thousand different skills and personal problems, and they all contribute, right? So we're measuring an overall level, but in reality, you're probably really good at some things already and probably pretty deficient at others. And you don't have to be perfect. This is a game of iterative improvement. And, um, another excellent lesson before I give you the scale is that the problem you-you're dealing with in life is always the right problem for you right now. It's trying to teach you something, and that's why you're dealing

[00:22:47.724] Speaker 1: with it. It's a very useful mindset. Why am I struggling with this right now? Instead of saying it sucks or I have to fix it in a normal way, stop and ask yourself, "Why is this happening to me? What is this trying to teach me?" And assume that, no, this is the right thing for me right now. I'm here for a reason. I-- My job is to figure out why, to learn the lesson so that I can move on to the next one. Take that viewpoint as well. So here's the rough progression. So at the bottom of the scale, you've got yourself now roughly, wherever you wanna put yourself on the scale, I guess, um, is that you

[00:23:22.044] Speaker 1: begin to feel better, have more self-control, and become more self-aware. Your internal state, how your behavior affects others. You feel better. I'm happier. Things don't bother me as much. I'm less reactive, and I'm, I notice myself more, and I see myself more clearly. I don't get caught up in my own dramas as much. That's how-- That's-- You're on the scale. [chuckles] Congrats. Like, uh, there is a level of self-confidence that happens. So as I mentioned before, personal development and spiritual development as it relates to having all sorts of wild encounters

[00:23:57.084] Speaker 1: and effects and communication and insights and experiences, those come as the flip side of the coin of personal development. It's so weird, but that's, that's how it works. So by improving yourself, you can talk to people with your mind and see without your eyeballs and [chuckles] move stuff. Um, and you can know things before you should know them, all sorts of stuff. Uh, your intuition tells you stuff about people. Or about situations that you didn't expect. You have dreams that are teaching you lessons. All these things start happening, and it comes from improving yourself.

[00:24:32.292] Speaker 1: So as you're moving up this scale, you will tend to care more and feel more and notice more as you go up. Higher you go up, I'm-- I care more. I feel more of, of everything, by the way, not just good emotions, air quotes, "good emotions," but everything. Uh, you can be brought to tears by staring at a bowl on a desk. You can also be brought to tears, um, with sadness as you see somebody who is struggling, uh, or in pain, and you're gonna feel that too. Your

[00:25:07.172] Speaker 1: empathy is gonna go way up. So just remember, your aperture for feeling is gonna go wider as well. So you gotta be able to handle that. You're gonna be more sensitive overall, and you're gonna notice more things. Your awareness is going to increase. And as that happens, you're also going to care more and more in wider circles. So you can think of it as concentric circles. So you s- yourself, this is why you have to s-- you need to start this from a point of self-actualization. You know, I know who I am, generally speaking. I feel self-confident. I feel healthy. You can be unfulfilled. You can feel like, "Man, I'm not doing what I want. I feel like I have something I could be

[00:25:42.012] Speaker 1: doing. There's more. My life is good on paper. I'm pretty happy, or at least generally I am." That's a good starting point. And if you're not there, then there's tons of self-development help, meditating and all that stuff. Well, trusting your intuition, that still applies. Um, but anyway, you care about yourself, and you will care more about yourself, and then you'll care about your friends, your family, your community. Uh, you care about things beyond yourself as you go up this scale, and you care more and more deeply as well. So it's like you care more widely, but you also care more deeply. And that goes for feeling and noticing as well.

[00:26:17.432] Speaker 1: You become aware of things in a way you weren't before. Now, that awareness keeps going, and eventually you start to experience, and everyone ha- has experienced these things, even if you don't realize it. But your average level of awareness goes up, and you start to gain extra sensory perceptions. Again, often through de- dreams or when you're waking up or going to sleep, those are the most common times. But now that you're meditating, you're gonna start having this happen deep in meditation. You're just gonna have a, an insight on, "Oh, I know how to solve my problem." Like, you didn't even try. It just [snaps finger] comes to you. Or

[00:26:52.492] Speaker 1: you will hear a thing, or you will feel a thing, and you don't know why. Or you will have an idea, and then later someone will talk to you about that exact idea, and you'll be like, "What the hell just happened? [chuckles] I was thinking about that this morning, and now you're talking to me about it," because somehow you knew before it would happen. Precognition. All those things are gonna start happening, and they're gonna happen spontaneously at first. You will not be able to control it. And then if you practice with those skills specifically, you may bring them under your control. Um, but they're gonna start happening spontaneously.

[00:27:28.672] Speaker 1: And then all sorts of-- Then you're gonna get to a stage of non-physical communication. Your awareness will get to a point where somebody is gonna knock on your door. Um, so be prepared for that. [chuckles] It will almost certainly be kind. Um, but when you increase your aperture, you're bringing in more of whatever you're putting out there, right? So if you have a lot of fears or insecurities, you may attract those kinds of interactions. And if you've watched the other videos then or listened to them, you have some idea of what to do about that. You have

[00:28:03.652] Speaker 1: control over this. But just know that you're bringing your fears and insecurities with you, and to a degree, you are inviting those side-- kinds of interactions. So if you're incredibly fearful or you have very strong religious views that paint a world in which you are very likely to be attacked or you're doing something wrong, you can expect some of these interactions to not be pleasant. Uh, so you know, people are people, and creatures are creatures the world over. Just assume 'cause [chuckles] they're not physical doesn't mean that there's not the whole gamut. Uh, so but never forget that it's your own mind, your own reality.

[00:28:38.712] Speaker 1: And especially for non-physical things, you really just have to have a strength of self and to know, uh, "You can't actually hurt me," and you'll, you'll be fine. And then eventually you begin to learn truths directly about the universe and the world. Like, they, they just happen to you. You just know. You just... I know something profound about how the, how reality works. Or you start to get the answers to those big questions you started out with. You just know them one day. It just hits you or you experience it directly. And you know in a way that is not like, "I'm pretty sure I know how this works." You're like,

[00:29:12.872] Speaker 1: "I just understand on a fundamental level how this works. I have a feeling I understand it." And then you do. It's pretty weird, and it's pretty cool. Uh, so that's generally how it works. Um, but that sort of ignores what it's like along the way and all the things that you could do. So that's what it looks like to move along this sliding scale. All sorts of things will happen to you. You may have out-of-body experiences. In general, intention will make these things happen. You want them to happen, they are more likely to happen, but they can happen sporadically

[00:29:47.832] Speaker 1: too. You may have vivid and lucid dreams, uh, where you're interacting with people or, or something like people, uh, and all sorts of things can happen. Uh, so I couldn't tell you, but [chuckles] that's the general idea. Uh, so growth along this spectrum tends to happen in, like, waves, right? You may have periods where you have an enormous amount of things happen to you all at once, and then nothing will happen for a while. So as long as you're doing all that stuff, you're seeking, you're treating the problem of the day as,

[00:30:22.772] Speaker 1: "No, this is, like, serious. I'm struggling. Uh, this is happening to me for a reason," and you are serious about trying to figure it out. No problem is too small. Why are you annoyed waiting in line? You tell me. [chuckles] Treat that as a serious problem. There are no small moments. Everything means something. There's a lesson here. If you're playing that mini-game all the time, then you're going to start experiencing things you did not expect. Um, UFOs, someone will talk to you that isn't there. [chuckles] You have a profound feeling, uh, that something is going to happen. The anomalous events are going to happen, and they are going to

[00:30:57.780] Speaker 1: create basically a break in your worldview where you go, "Holy crap, this is actually happening. This is real. It's working." [chuckles] "I am aware of things that I did not know existed, experiences I did not know I could have. I'm pretty sure that this is happening right now." And when those happen, you have to process it. They can either happen in a way that is-- you can tolerate. It's within your change tolerance, even if it's difficult. And I promise you, it can be hard. Some people will be harder than others. Um,

[00:31:33.220] Speaker 1: but you have to be able to process that. Uh, so some things not to do when anomalous events occur to you. Uh, flee, fight, denial, distraction, downplay it, or go catatonic. Now, I'm not judging anybody. If you need psychological, like, [chuckles] defense, and it's okay to, like, run away or shut something down 'cause you can't handle it anymore. That's fine. But these things will not, like, advance you in the sense, like, if you always have that reaction, it's going to stop happening. You're shutting it down, closing that aperture, and it's not gonna happen anymore.

[00:32:09.620] Speaker 1: So you want to ask questions like, "What happened? What is it showing me?" You need to decide what it means. You, remember, you decide what it means. It's up to you to decide what it means. Uh, don't let anyone else tell you what it means. This is a first-hand exploration. Remember, this isn't about reading books. This isn't about watching YouTube videos. I mean, this one aside, I guess, but this is just principles. I'm not telling you what any of it is. I'm not telling you who these alien races are. I'm not gonna tell you who built the pyramids. I'm not gonna tell you that there's secret cults. I'm not gonna tell you that magic, this is how it

[00:32:44.480] Speaker 1: works. I don't care. You go figure it out. I'm giving you the principles. You do it yourself. You decide what it means. Don't abdicate that to anyone else. You can use other people's information as a shorthand if you want, but in general, I'd say that is usually noise. Go find out yourself. You don't need anyone else's permission. You have everything you need already to do this. There's no real reason to ask other people other than support. Support is great. Talk to other people who are doing something similar, these other kinds of inner explorations. Now, after you decide what it means, you need to update your beliefs and

[00:33:19.400] Speaker 1: your world models to try to incorporate this. Okay, this is real, so you don't just project it. Like, okay, something is explaining this. I may not know what, but this happened for some reason, and can I fit this into my worldview? And then you start to act from these new models. So if you get a strong feeling that, again, uh, I think I used this example before, that your, your deceased grandmother is trying to give you a message to do something, and you updated your belief, you processed that. Okay, I'm not panicking too much. I got it together. [chuckles] Okay,

[00:33:54.420] Speaker 1: this is possible. I've updated my beliefs a little bit. Now you act like it's true. You have to act like it's true. Even if you're not perfect, you have to act like it's true, 'cause if you don't want it, you're gonna shut it down, and it won't happen anymore. So you need to act it out. That means you don't ignore [chuckles] your grandma, uh, or whomever, right? Whatever is happening, whatever you're trying to do, whether you're trying to move a piece of foil, aluminum foil with your mind or see without your eyes, whatever you're trying to do or hear or feel or understand, when it actually starts to happen, you have to integrate it, process

[00:34:29.460] Speaker 1: it, and then start acting it out in the real world. So start acting like it's true. And if you're in a safe space or you have a support group, talk it out. Tell them what happened. Bottling this stuff up, not good. [chuckles] Everybody needs somebody. Um, and this is difficult. Um, it can be difficult, and it can be isolating, and it could be ostracizing because it's still not normal. Uh, it's not normal to try to understand yourself by yourself using the tools that have been given to you from your very birth or before your birth. You have everything you need. You don't have to ask

[00:35:04.460] Speaker 1: permission, but that doesn't mean that it can't be isolating and, you know, lonely or disturbing to do these things on your own and feel like you can't talk to anyone about it. That's not good. You need to, you need to be able to get this out with- in a safe space, so try to find people who, who are happy to share this kind of thing with you. That's what you're gonna do. Now, that's if it went well and it's within your change tolerance. Now, if you have a close encounter experience or you have a difficult [chuckles] dream or non-dreamlike experience or something happens to you that you're not

[00:35:39.540] Speaker 1: ready for, you thought you were, and then you're like, "Oh, no, I am [chuckles] not prepared for this," and you can feel yourself going into shock and shutting down. You know, obviously, once all this event is over, you have, I've dubbed the term, been shattered, basically. I've been shattered a number of times, and it is... There's a reason I suggested that you be able to handle your shit, because it's one thing to say, "Oh, this is cool. Look at these photographs," or, "Look at these ideas." But when you see a ghost or whatever, a UFO or whatever, it actually

[00:36:14.220] Speaker 1: happens to you because you've been trying to. Or when you see somebody do some healing or something, and you thought you were ready for it in an intellectual way, and then you see it, and you start to shut down and go, "Oh, no, that did not just happen." Your worldview has been shattered beyond your change, your ability to process and handle change. It's not, like, ideal [chuckles] for this to happen too much, but it probably is going to happen to you some if you're serious about this. And you need to be able to handle processing trauma, and that means I recommend go looking, looking up how to

[00:36:49.088] Speaker 1: process trauma. Uh, but the general idea is that how you encode the memory matters. So when you... If you encode this as something negative or, like, "This was, uh, this was a demon," or, "I've done something awful," or, "That happened because I'm terrible," or, "I don't know what I'm doing, I'm in danger," you're encoding that as something out of your control, and it's a traumatic memory. But if you can find a way that this was for you, that it was positive, that it meant something good even if it was confusing or disturbing, you need to find a way to process that trauma in a way that it doesn't build up and prevent you from

[00:37:24.068] Speaker 1: keep, from going. I mean, there's no shame in calling it quits if you c- [chuckles] if it's making your life worse. Like, that's not the point. Uh, don't be that reckless. But at the same time, you need to be able to handle traumatic events and know how to get through it all, with therapy, with friends, like, because it's going to affect you. Generally in a beautiful way, right? It's, it's cool. Like, you, you, you go to sleep and then, oh, wow, your grandma is, like, she's there. She's talking to you, and you're like... That can either be something that shook your entire world and you shut down, and you don't want this anymore,

[00:37:59.168] Speaker 1: or it can, once you get through how difficult it's been and you can reflect on it and process it a little bit, you can realize it's something beautiful and awesome and exactly what you always wanted. How you handle it is what matters. Um, I will say these kinds of traumatic experiences, pain, change beyond your tolerance, um, and actually completely processing the events as they happen. Don't just blow through them or play th- downplay them and, like, move on to the next thing. You really need to sit with this. You have to do a lot of thinking. Like, at some point you're like, "Oh, crap.

[00:38:34.408] Speaker 1: The aliens are real, man." [chuckles] Or whatever people call them, or spirits, whatever your thing is. I'm not here to tell you what's true. Ghosts or, like, I guess s- this is actually happening. The amount of times you're gonna have to sit down and say those exact words, "Oh, this is actually happening to me." And you're gonna have to sit with that for a while and figure out what it means for you, and it's not always easy. But you need to, like, completely, like, digest that. You need to completely work through it. You carry that through, the magic stops. Or worse, it doesn't stop, and now you're building up traumatic experiences, and

[00:39:09.068] Speaker 1: that's, that's no bueno. That's not gonna end well. Um, so, but in general, at least in my experience, the magic stops. The universe, your spirit guides, your, your deity, whatever, it stops the gravy train of cool and weird things happening to you because you're not ready. If you're not ready, it's just pain. It's just hurting you. You haven't healed. You haven't recovered. It's like doing a workout where you injure your arm and, like, you go back the next day and it's like, "Come, give me more." Like, no. [chuckles] You can't, you're not done with the last one yet. You hurt yourself, man. Or, like, you just need to

[00:39:44.088] Speaker 1: rest. Like, it takes time. Irony of me saying it takes time. I was very impatient. Uh, I, I regret very little, but I learned these things because of my impatience, so I guess that's to your benefit. Okay, so other things that do not work. Detachment from your human life and responsibility. Cool. At some point you're like, "Pssh. You know, this is all a construct. I can control it all with my awareness," or, "Why do I... I don't need to..." [chuckles] Whatever your thing is. I don't know what your thing is. But you bec- you, you could become

[00:40:18.828] Speaker 1: disillusioned from your own regular life. "Why do I have to take the garbage out?" [chuckles] It's... "I have had some deep insight and it feels so pointless. Like, what does it matter?" Don't do that. It's gonna happen, and that's okay. Don't judge yourself for it. But if you disconnect from your life, from your friends, from your responsibilities, the magic stops. Or worse, it doesn't, and things get worse. But in general, it does seem to. If you are acting with inauthenticity, uh, or acting from a place of victimhood, it stops. No victims. It's

[00:40:53.588] Speaker 1: okay to feel like a victim for a while. It's okay to go down, but you don't stay down. So if you stay in those places, you're faking it. Not in a fake it and you make it, like I'm living into something, but like I'm acting like not myself, and I don't like it. If you're not acting authentically in your life, doesn't work. This is, remember, personal development. That's all we're really talking about is personal development, and you just keep going off into the stratosphere. [chuckles] It's escape velocity. You keep developing that person so hard that apparently you can leave your body, talk to aliens, and see ghosts. I don't know, man. I don't make the

[00:41:28.528] Speaker 1: rules. It just happens. Um, [chuckles] okay. Failure to retain or live out previous lessons. When you learn those lessons throughout life, "Why is this happening to me right now? Well, because I judge myself, uh, super harshly, especially when I fail or I feel rejected." Great. If you manage to work through that behemoth of a problem that you've had, and then two months from now you re- di- you regress and you go from, you know, being able to see without eyes really well or whatever your thing is, or you just, you feel like you've regressed

[00:42:03.368] Speaker 1: spiritually or nothing's happening anymore, you need to reexamine whether you have actually continually applied the things you've already learned. If you're not doing what you already know to be true, at least on a general basis, you can't just learn it once and then forget about it. You need to keep applying those lessons. Uh, they, this all accumulates. It's stacking up. So if you stop taking care of yourself, [chuckles] if you stop doing the basics or w- you're repeating mistakes that you've done in the past over and over again, you're not gonna progress. In fact, it literally all stops. Um,

[00:42:38.876] Speaker 1: cool. Uh, so in the general path of progress from where you are now to whatever you're trying to accomplish next or answer some big question or just a general spiritual development is a process of acting from irrational belief. So you are reaching out, acting beyond what your existing models of the world can predict. So if you come from a materialist worldview, everything is atoms and physics, um, then it's going to be hard for you to experience non-physical energy or chakras or whatever you're trying to do. So you need to be able to

[00:43:13.656] Speaker 1: believe something. Like I said, you need to be able to believe a stupid i... You need to be able to sit with a stupid idea long enough to see if it's true. So you're holding it in this space where I believe it can be true. I believe it can be true. [chuckles] It can be that little engine that could until it does, and that could be longer than you think. All right. Uh, what else did I not cover? Oh man, there's a lot I'm not covering. Sheesh. This stuff is complicated, but it's also not [chuckles] that complicated. There's a general idea that you will be helped, especially there is somebody for everybody, and they are trying to

[00:43:48.536] Speaker 1: help you. And if you sincerely embark on this, there are people who are putting lessons in front of you, just like I've described my own stories, like a curriculum. They're always trying to push in front of you what you need now. What you might need now is to not yell at your kids. Like, that's okay. Or it might be like, it's almost always a problem within yourself. It's some insecurity. It's something you haven't faced. So if you don't wanna face, you know, your daddy issues or you don't wanna face your insecurities about your appearance or whatever, [chuckles] I got bad news for you because this whole thing is a machine designed to

[00:44:23.536] Speaker 1: make you face every single one of your dark parts or things you don't like about yourself or the world or your ignorance. It is literally just a mirror or a flashlight. It's... You're seeing yourself, and you are shining a light on the portions of yourself that you probably least want to look at. So if you don't, [chuckles] you don't get magic powers unless you're willing to face your childhood traumas. And that's just how it is. Or your relationship issues, [chuckles] or your issues with yourself because they are what is preventing you from getting to that moment, as

[00:44:58.356] Speaker 1: strange as that sounds. So those are called distortions, and they are just things that are in the way. They're illusions. They are things that you think are true that are limiting you, and they're hurting you, and they're making your life worse. Uh, so you're gonna have... This is literally just a process of improving yourself. Um, so if you think you don't have to face something or there's one fear you won't have to get through, that doesn't mean that you have to solve everything. But in general, you should expect each of these lessons and even the anomalous experiences to be shaped by, and you should know why by now, your own fears,

[00:45:32.636] Speaker 1: insecurities, and limiting beliefs. That's really the work you're doing on because, again, it's all you. If your reality is all you, the only thing preventing you [chuckles] from being aware of and controlling your reality is yourself, and these are the things that are in your way, is these distortions. It's personal problems, [chuckles] large- largely speaking anyway. Uh, not entirely, but largely. Um, there is a level of just, like, work, uh, that has to happen and increased awareness. There are skills that happen. I'm not gonna need to teach you what they are because your own intuition, your own guides or deity

[00:46:07.576] Speaker 1: or higher power, higher self, doesn't matter. They're always pushing the lesson you need in front of you. So treat life like that. Um, some things to be aware of. Um, frustration, uh, confusion, and absurdity are fundamental properties of these experiences, and you have to exert effort to overcome them. And the reason that th- this is this way is because it improves the potential. So if you see something and it's a little insane, I don't know, see s- like Bigfoot or something, and it's like... Some of this stuff is deliberately dumb.

[00:46:42.796] Speaker 1: It doesn't make sense. Like, it almost precisely doesn't make sense. It's almost precisely calibrated to happen in a way that it's just outside or maybe way outside what you believed was possible, in a way that you definitely didn't believe, or it triggers your own insecurities or is related to your own fears. It is the exact thing [chuckles] you didn't want to see or experience. Uh, but not necessarily in a scary way, or there will be properties about it that don't make sense that bother you. So it's frustrating or it's confusing. And the reason it is that way is because you're being

[00:47:17.756] Speaker 1: shaken. Like, "Hey, pay attention. You can't ignore this." That's the idea. The whole thing is designed to be something you can't ignore, so you'll take it seriously. So just know that that will happen, and these are common properties of any of these experiences, is it's either dumb, it doesn't make sense, like in a way that is like, this is impossible, but also silly. Like, [chuckles] there's no wa... I went to sleep the other night, and as I was trying to fall asleep or taking a nap, I heard like a baby whining. Just l- just one sound effect, and I'm like, "What is this?" This has no relevance in my life,

[00:47:52.656] Speaker 1: and nothing baby-related has happened since then. It's like, why? [chuckles] Just because. I don't know. Who knows? Because it could. It's almost like a, "Eh, bet you didn't think this could happen." Um, the reason that happens is it sticks in your mind. It keeps you going. It keeps you questioning, like, "That wasn't possible, right?" That is a fundamental property of these experiences. Don't be surprised by that. You should be expecting it. Anything else to cover? I think,

[00:48:27.456] Speaker 1: again, support, super important. Um, intention is just directed, purposeful energy with attention. Um- You can, that's more or less deciding what's going to happen for you, what, what direction your growth is going. Um, so just set an intention and take that seriously. Um, that is your way to write to the universe. Think of it as putting out your request to your, your deity, your guides, or your higher self or whatever, um, to your soul, to, "I want these lessons. I want these experiences," and mean it, and live it, and act accordingly,

[00:49:02.700] Speaker 1: and they will start to happen. And if they don't start to happen, you need to examine why the thing happening in front of you is the right lesson for you now. It is never the wrong thing. Um, so of course, believing this is possible. And just remember, this is just self-development. Weird and amazing and wonderful things just start happening. [chuckles] It's just a side effect. It seems like a side effect, but it's not. It's increased awareness, and a lot of the time it will seem like nothing is happening, and sometimes it's like, bam, okay, I guess I have improved or something has. My awareness has definitely increased because this is happening to me right now,

[00:49:38.080] Speaker 1: and it's not always obvious. Uh, it can feel like nothing is happening for a long time, far longer than you expected possible, even though you're doing everything right. Uh, that can happen too. I will say this is generally easier in groups, so if you have people who are doing the same thing, especially if they're physically co-located, go to events like this. Go do various psi training for like mindsight and telekinesis and other stuff. You put these people all in the same room who are all doing the same thing, it really encourages you. Um, I recommend anything that is free from dogma,

[00:50:13.760] Speaker 1: uh, no culty stuff. You don't need that. This is you. All you need are the tools available to you already. You just need yourself. You have everything you need. But having support and being around people who are doing the other thing, it's almost like when you go together, it's much faster. It's not only faster, but it's easier to believe. There is an exponential multiplier the more people you know. Um, and so the final thing I'll also say is just like taking very seriously how you allow things to influence in your life. You're going to need to roll back. I can tell you right now, your information diet needs to be almost zero. I don't

[00:50:48.760] Speaker 1: listen to podcasts basically ever. I don't read the news. I know nothing about it. I don't listen to it. [chuckles] I consume a little. Sometimes I'll watch movies. Um, not because I don't care. I just don't feel the need to. That's another thing that happens. You just don't care about stuff. Your vices, they go away. You're just happy. Like you're content with almost anything. You know? It's, you're gon- You are best getting rid of the... If something makes you feel bad, if you feel worse afterward than when you did it, there's a very good chance that this is in the way of what you're trying to do here, and it is limiting you because you

[00:51:23.760] Speaker 1: believe you need it. That can be drugs. That can be, uh, entertainment media. It doesn't have to be. There's nothing wrong with those things inherently, but why you do it is what's important. And if it is a crutch, you better believe that that crutch is either gonna be kicked out from underneath you or you will not progress, uh, until you are willing to demonstrate that you don't need these things anymore. And that ain't easy to say. You don't like it? Well, [chuckles] okay. You want control over your reality. You want the gift of everything. Do you want to be able to do

[00:51:58.360] Speaker 1: anything or be anything? Like, I don't... I assume that's where this goes. That's the message I got. [chuckles] Do you want that? You wanna live in your little world where it's like this, and you believe you can't do things and, you know, you need a, you need drugs or something else to unwind, and nothing else is okay. There's no judgment on that. You're gonna have to get rid of self-judgment. You're gonna have to learn how to stop beating yourself up and stop blaming yourself. You have to be kinder to yourself. All of, if it's not making you feel better, that should be very questionable. You should be happier and feel better all the time. You should feel more

[00:52:32.960] Speaker 1: connected to your world, to your own life, to the people in it. You lean in. This is all a process of leaning into your life. It's not leaning away and trying to separate from it. You are paradoxically leaning more into your life and learning more about your own attention. You're, you're taking your internal state seriously. You're taking things seriously that you can feel that you didn't take seriously before, and you're learning to discern. You're feeling more. You're leaning into your life, and through that process, you begin to see what is real and what isn't, what is you and what isn't, what's in your control and what isn't.

[00:53:08.580] Speaker 1: And these things all happen naturally as a process of leaning into your life and improving it. Uh, so that's pretty much it. That's all you gotta do. It's not that complicated. Um, you have the pieces you need already. Hopefully, those things will help you along the way, and of course, you have the advantage of knowing that it works. [chuckles] So that's cool. I mean, assuming you buy, uh, my experiences and what they mean, uh, I certainly do, then you can do it too. There's nothing fundamentally different about me compared

[00:53:43.560] Speaker 1: to you. Like you've got the same hardware that you need to do this, and if you do it with others, it will go faster. Uh, if you do it seriously, you do it intently, you're serious about removing things from your life and changing yourself in a positive, healthy way to feel better, to feel more connected to the world around you, to be more at peace, to be happier no matter what is happening to you, this stuff will just start happening, and it will keep happening as long as you continue doing the work that got you there. If you stop doing the work or you stop believing it, it will close, and it will stop happening, and you'll

[00:54:18.460] Speaker 1: stop growing. Uh, so the last thing I'll say is that you need to be prepared to be weird. If that's not already obvious, you should be prepared to feel different than the people around you. But of course, as this happens, you're going to feel compassionate, and you're gonna feel sorry for them. Do not... As you gain these insights, you're going to feel out of place. You need to have a community somewhere online somehow. You need to talk to somebody. You need to not feel alone in this. Because it can be very isolating, and you may feel the desire to talk to people who aren't ready for

[00:54:53.492] Speaker 1: this. It is my belief, and, uh, it is the beliefs of the [chuckles] the people that I s- I've talked to and had interactions with that, and is evident in my own, you know, curriculum. In retrospect, I didn't know for a long time that there was a curriculum, but y- you can see a path in retrospect of assisted growth, that you cannot push something onto somebody that they're not ready for. If they don't want this, first of all, it's wrong to shatter their worldview. I don't walk up to people and show that I can see without my eyeballs

[00:55:28.392] Speaker 1: because it could really harm them if they're not ready for that, and it could really damage this whole enterprise. And, um, socially speaking, if you really want people to turn against you [chuckles] and say, "This is wrong," uh, that would be a good way to do it, is to terrify them without giving them the context of, "No, seriously, like, you can do this," like helping them through it. But generally speaking, if somebody isn't already interested, you're gonna have to feel it out. You're just gonna have to let them be. Don't try to fix other people, and don't try to like [chuckles] don't try to blow the doors off and get, force them through

[00:56:03.392] Speaker 1: it because it is wrong, and it doesn't work, and it will cause them to shut down, and you're just going to traumatize them because they don't have the same tools to recover and make sense of what's happening to them that you are developing. So you're just hurting them. You're hurting them, and you're also hurting this whole enterprise. You're making it harder for other people to talk about this because they're gonna demonize it. So if you don't wanna do that, and you want it to be a beautiful thing to figure out who you are and explore the nature of your own reality and big questions and connect beyond yourself, then don't make us look bad.

[00:56:37.992] Speaker 1: [chuckles] And don't, don't scare people who aren't ready for it. But at the same time, one of the most important things you can do to superchar- supercharge this whole process, besides being yourself and doing what you feel is right, surprise, surprise, [chuckles] and improving yourself, is helping other people do the same or in any way. And of course, as you feel more and care more and notice more, you're naturally gonna wanna help people. You're al- if you're already following your intuition, you're gonna want to start doing it because you care more and because you feel connected to them. And then

[00:57:12.852] Speaker 1: eventually, you start to feel that you're, like, you're the same person. You're more than just connected. Like, on some level, we are the same, and you want to help them. It just makes sense. It's obvious. Not only do you not wanna hurt them anymore, or you don't care about negative stuff. You don't even wanna entertain it anymore 'cause you can feel it affecting you. You want to help people that are in a bad place. So that is totally cool. Go do that every time you feel it. And you're gonna have to learn how to do that, but don't, um, don't try to force, however excited you might be, don't try to force this on other people. You're either gonna

[00:57:47.812] Speaker 1: traumatize them, or you're gonna scare them off. You're gonna give them things they're not ready for. And the whole, whole process is just enough. This is like working out. You don't wanna drop 1,000 pounds on top of somebody's head. They're [chuckles] not gonna get strong like that. They're gonna get crippled, and they're gonna get scared, and you're gonna mess them up. So don't do that. Um, you don't have to keep it to yourself, but just be aware of what you're doing and how it affects others. And with that, uh, you know, send me a message with your mind one day. Be polite. Maybe I'll say hey [chuckles] if I know how to do it, if I get it. Um, good

[00:58:22.712] Speaker 1: luck, and, uh, have fun. Just remember that this is a profound and personal experience. It is, um, don't be greedy. Share it when you can, and, uh, be good. That's the whole point because it's all just you anyway, so you're only hurting yourself otherwise. Have fun.
