THE STEVEN SCHREMBECK ARCHIVE Caretaker guide - October 10, 2026 OPEN THE COLLECTION Unzip the complete archive and open START-HERE.html in a web browser. The site works from ordinary HTML, CSS, JavaScript and media files. Reading, search, file downloads and supported audio/video playback work without an account, database, external font service, or analytics. JavaScript enhances search and menus; the content and ordinary links remain usable without it. MKV recordings may need a compatible desktop video player. WHAT IS INCLUDED The website, 19 captured articles (17 reading pages and two source captures marked Unpublished), 64 MP3 recordings, 24 videos, two personal photographs, artwork, source records, transcripts, and the original memorial exports. The raw collection is preserved under collection-files/. The archive home base links to Jeff Cameron's original remembrance instead of republishing that post as the story of Steven's life. KEEP INDEPENDENT COPIES Give the complete ZIP and its SHA256SUMS file to two trusted people. Keep at least one additional copy on an offline drive. Check the files after copying. Keep this guide with every copy. Hosting accounts are convenient publication surfaces, not a guarantee of permanent preservation. VERIFY SHA256SUMS.txt in collection-files/ records the original archive's checksums. SHA256SUMS-COMPLETE.txt records every file in this edition. Verify them with a SHA-256 checker, or `shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS-COMPLETE.txt` from the extracted root. The original inventory may predate later additions. The package's external checksum verifies the ZIP itself. PUBLISH AGAIN Any static file server can serve the extracted root, including the media. The full collection is too large for GitHub Pages. Use an object store for large media and a static website host, preserving the relative URLs. The provided Cloudflare Pages Worker serves /collection-files/ from R2; the frontend remains ordinary files. No database is used. The deployment scripts are retained in the GitHub repository, not in the public download. Do not upload .private/, credentials, or local deployment configuration. SOURCES AND DATES Original URLs are linked beside the archived files when recorded. Podcast dates are feed publication dates; YouTube dates are upload dates; article dates are source Created time, which is not always publication time; talk dates come from recording filenames and embedded metadata. Unknown dates are left unknown. Machine transcripts can contain errors and are labeled. PRESERVATION STATUS No Internet Archive, Wayback, or Perma.cc submission has been made by this build. When captures are created, record the exact URLs and check every important page and its media. Do not assume a homepage capture includes the whole site. The original collection notes document known missing items. ADDING CONTENT Keep original files and source URLs. Record dates and attribution without guessing. Add new memories with their contributor's name. Keep publication permission with your private custody records. Avoid deleting older originals when making more convenient reading, listening or viewing copies. GITHUB COPY https://github.com/jcameronjeff/steven-schrembeck-memorial Install Git LFS, clone the repository, and run git lfs pull to retrieve all recordings. The collection/ folder holds the complete source archive. GitHub Releases also provides normal ZIP parts; extract all parts into the same folder. The smaller GitHub Pages edition links to full media in GitHub LFS. RELATED WORKS The Basement in the Attic (2020) and the Inside Your House adaptation are linked without saved copies. Lighthouse Horror’s adaptation is saved.
